BOOKINGS for a star-studded Lynn Festival have got off to a flying start.
Friends of the Festival, who receive priority booking, have highlighted the popularity of flautist Sir James Galway, tenor Alfie Boe and pianist John Lill.

"The priority booking has been a very busy period and the big demand for tickets is set to continue with the opening of the box office at the Corn Exchange," said administrator Joanne Mawson.

The box office has now opened for the 58th festival which runs from July 13 to 26.

The Black Dyke Band will launch the event and over the following days, names including poet laureate Andrew Motion, folk stars John Tams and Barry Coope and historian Michael Wood will appear at Lynn.

Festival artistic director Ambrose Miller described the programme as "an exceptional collection of talent which rivals any other festival in the UK."

"Sir James Galway, who now lives in Switzerland, will make one of his rare appearances in England and it is a real coup that the Czech National Symphony Orchestra is flying over specially for its appearance at Lynn and one other date in Britain."

The box office can be contacted on 01553 764864, information is available at www.kingslynnfestival.org.uk and brochures requested from the festival office on 01553 767557.
